We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Toxics 2023 Young Investigator Award is Dr. Guilherme Malafaia.
Dr. Guilherme Malafaia is a professor at the Department of Biological Sciences at the Goiano Federal Institute, Urutaí Campus (Goiás State, Brazil). Dr. Guilherme Malafaia’s research interests include ecotoxicology, micropollutants, nanoparticles, micro(nano)plastics, experimental animal models, animal physiology, animal behavior, neurotoxicity, embryotoxicology, reproductive toxicology, biochemistry, genotoxicity, mutagenicity, emerging pollutants, water quality and environmental impacts. Dr. Guilherme Malafaia received his Ph.D. in 2015 and has an outstanding publication record. He has published over 360 journal papers and several books. In the last five years (from 2019 to January 2024), Dr. Guilherme Malafaia has published 162 scientific articles in the field of toxics in renowned high-impact scientific journals. Facing financial difficulties and spatial location issues, he was able to approve different projects with important funding agencies in his country, as well as contribute to the training of master's and doctoral students in the field of environmental sciences, with a focus on the toxicity of pollutants. This is an outstanding achievement in today’s competitive environment. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Guilherme Malafaia for his outstanding achievements.
As the awardee, Dr. Guilherme Malafaia will receive an honorarium of CHF 2000, an offer to publish a paper free of charge before the end of 2024 in Toxics (ISSN: 2305-6304) after peer-review, and an electronic certificate.
