Recent Advances in Application of 1D Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Nitrogen Fixation
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThe manuscript “Recent Advances in Application of 1D nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Nitrogen Fixation” should undergo a deep correction, many mistakes are found, and I lost much time to find all of these mistakes, but I am sure that it is not the all.
Similar studies including this topic are found in database: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S2211285520302020
But I see potential in this topic, and after corrections, a deeper comparison on 1D material could be found here than in the previous studies. More references are needed.
All parts of this manuscript should be improved, some comments are as follow:
L 16 – „Possibility of achieving sustained ammonia synthesis.” – this is not a sentence, please correct the part of abstract
L22 – what is high surface, this is a mental shortcut, please use scientific terms in the manuscript.
L33 - “The eco-friendly material with a high hydrogen emission capacity”. Please remember about the sentence structure – this is also the example (but I see many language mistakes in the whole manuscript), it should be connected with the objective – medium for hydrogen storage .
L120 – wrong index of N2
L122 – please introduce the abbreviation NRR
L128 – please start the sentence from large letter
L130-139 – there is the lack of referenced
L144 - this photocatalytic N2 reduction system was greatly enhanced to 0.02% - please explain this value
L 155 – please explain what it is: 1T-MoS2
L 160 – or NH3 generation?
L 165 - BiOBr facet – this is 2D material
L176 – LDH is not 2D material
L 185- LDHb – please explain what it is
L209 – I don’t know what is hot electron, please correct it
L 214, 232 – arrows at equation’s should appear
L270 – index of NOx
L 275 – zinc oxide with small letter
L 284 – please add the name of g-C3N4 . But this material is not 1D, this mentioned should be removed from this chapter. The same comment about MOF
L445 – it should be chapter b
L 515 – this is not the sentence: ZnO [132] and MnO2 nanowires[133].
L 589 – there is the mistake in the capture of Figure
L603 – please explain the term LSPR
L363 – Carbon nanotubes should have abbreviation CNT
L 652 – please explain the abbreviation RhB
L 678 – you should start sentence from large letter
L 689 – name Chen should begin with large letter
L 698 – please correct this table to unify the
L 700 – what Haber-Bosch method was used for?
L 724 – why do you mention about g-C3N4 if this is even 1D material?
L 740 – why did you mention it, if this manuscript is not in this topic, I didn't even find information about metal sites in the whole manuscript.
Comments on the Quality of English LanguageI mentioned some mistakes in my review. Some parts of this manuscript I can't even describe as "sentences".

Comment: 2 L22 – what is high surface, this is a mental shortcut, please use
scientific terms in the manuscript.
Response: The whole abstract is rewritten so above sentence corrected.
Comments: 3 L33 - “The eco-friendly material with a high hydrogen emission
capacity”. Please remember about the sentence structure – this is also the example (but I see many language mistakes in the whole manuscript), it should be connected with the objective –medium for hydrogen storage.
Response: We have corrected major grammatical mistakes in the whole manuscript and corrected the sentences errors, abbreviations, large letter/small letter corrections.
Response: It is corrected in revised version.
Comment: 5 L122 – please introduce the abbreviation NRR

Comment: 6 L128 – please start the sentence from large letter.
Response: In the revised manuscript sentence started with large letter.
Comment: 7 L130-139 – there is the lack of referenced.
Response: Text is revised and proper reference cited at the end.
Comment: 8 This photocatalytic N2 reduction system was greatly enhanced to 0.02% - please explain this value
Response: The mentioned above percentage value is correct and proper reference is cited there.
Comment: 9 please explain what it is: 1T-MoS2.
Response: 1T-MoS2. MoS2 is generally classified into two types based on its crystalline phases. 1T MOS2 represents the metallic octahedral phase and the next one is hexagonal 2H phase. the former exhibits enhanced catalytic applications especially in the field of biotherapy, electrocatalysis and photocatalysis.
Response: It is corrected
Comment: 11 BiOBr facet – this is 2D material
Response: yes, it is removed.
Comments:12 LDH is not 2D material
Response: The section on LDH has been removed from the manuscript, as it was identified as a mistake.

Response: The section on LDH has been removed.
Comments:14 I don’t know what is hot electron, please correct it.
Response: It is corrected now ‘hole electron’
Comment: 15 arrows at equations should appear
Response: It is appeared in revised manuscript.
Response: It is given the full form and short for together.
Comment:17 zinc oxide with small letter
Response: It is corrected
Comment:18 please add the name of g-C3N4 . But this material is no 1D, this mentioned should
be removed from this chapter. The same comment about MOF
Response: The materials mentioned in the manuscript are totally one-dimensional materials.
For example, g-C3N4 or MOFs mentioned in this manuscript are one-
dimensional nanostructures. g-C3N4 can be easily modified as a 1D structure.
Please go through the reference attached.
Comment:19 this is not the sentence: ZnO [132] and MnO2 nanowires[133]
Response: Sentence is corrected
Comment:20 there is the mistake in the capture of Figure
Response: It is corrected.
Comment:21 please explain the term LSPR
Response: LSPR effect; Local surface plasmon effect or LSPR effect defined as when light
excites tiny metallic particles, causing their electrons to oscillate together. This
oscillation enhances electric fields near the particle's surface and boosts its
optical absorption at a specific frequency, creating vibrant colors in solutions
containing these particles. The size and shape of the particles determine the
frequency of this resonance, which can be tuned for various applications.
Comment:22 Carbon nanotubes should have abbreviation CNT
Response: full for as well as abbreviation is mentioned
Comment:23 please explain the abbreviation RhB
Response: It is mentioned at the revised manuscript.
Comment:24 you should start sentence from large letter
Response: yes, sentence started with large letters.
Comment:25 name Chen should begin with large letter
Response: Name Chen started with large letter in revised manuscript.
Comment:26 Please correct this table to unify the
Response: It is corrected.
Comment:27 what Haber-Bosch method was used for?
Response: The Haber-Bosch method is a chemical process for synthesizing ammonia from nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas. this process involves the reaction of nitrogen and hydrogen over a catalyst at high temperature and pressure to form ammonia. It revolutionized agriculture and industry by providing a way to produce ammonia-based fertilizers and other chemicals on a large scale, contributing significantly to global food production and industrial development.
Comments: 28 why do you mention about g-C3N4 if this is even 1D material?
Response: Here mentioned g-C3N4 is 1D materials we tried to explain how it is improving photocatalytic nitrogen fixation
Comment:29 why did you mention it, if this manuscript is not in this topic, I didn't even find
information about metal sites in the whole manuscript
Response: Single metal mentioned in the manuscript is removed but those are in composites form re mentioned at suitable position in manuscript.

Comments and Suggestions for AuthorsThis manuscript reviews the photocatalytic nitrogen fixation using 1-D nanomaterials. The meaningful informations are systematically and well organized. I recommend this manuscript be accepted for this journal after revising the following points.
1. The authors stated that they wrote this paper because the results of utilizing 1-D nanomaterials in photocatalytic NH3 systhesis were limited compared to other dimensional materials. It seems necessary to clarify whether 1-D materials are advantageous over other dimensional materials in terms of reaction activity in this reaction.
2. It would be better if more attention was paid to numbering. It is necessary to check the detailed numbers of section 5.2 and section 6.

other dimensional materials. It seems necessary to clarify whether 1-D materials
are advantageous over other dimensional materials in terms of reaction activity
in this reaction.
Response: Here, our view of writing this review article is that there is many review
articles. are published on 2D nanomaterials for photocatalytic
application specially for photocatalytic nitrogen fixation also. Similarly, for 0D
nanomaterials also, many reviews are published, but there are very few reviews
for one-dimensional nanomaterials. but these nanomaterials are well studied for
various applications therefore we thought we could write a review of 1D
nanomaterials for photocatalytic nitrogen fixation. We are not calming that 1D
nanomaterials are better than other articles because here we Summerside only
about 1 D nanomaterials we didn’t compared it with other materials.
Comment: 2 It would be better if more attention was paid to numbering. It is necessary to
check the detailed numbers of section 5.2 and section 6
Response: numbers for all the section carefully checked

Comment: 1 L 103 – what is the role of oleyamine in this material?
Response: In their work author has first step, Bi and Br ions were complexed in pure
oleylamine solution to form ordered bismuth-bromine-oleylamine (Bi–
Br–OA) complexes. This complex they further hydrolyzed to form
ultrafine nanotubes. Here oleylamine is used as surfactant to avoid the
agglomeration between Bi and Br.
Comment: L 156 – what is this: e-s?
Response: it is not a e-s it is electrons (e-) in revised version it is corrected and
highlighted with green color.
Comments: L 180, 197 – please correct steps 2
Response: We have corrected the both step 2 and highlighted with green color
