Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

At present, rural economic development has entered a critical period of transformation. For a long time, extensive development has posed a huge threat to the sustainable development of rural areas. A healthy ecosystem plays an important role in sustainable development. Rural water, soil, vegetation, and other ecosystems have been severely damaged, which urgently requires us to change this trend. Protection and restoration of the ecological systems in rural areas will likely result in beautiful and sustainable villages. Ecological restoration means managing the fragile ecological environment so that a damaged ecosystem can gradually restore its original functions. As a result, it improves the coordination between rural economic development and the ecological environment and helps to realize the harmonious coexistence of people and nature in rural areas. We encourage the use of empirical methods to review these situations, focusing on economic aspects and farmers' responses to decisions regarding ecological restoration.
