Personalized Medicine in Vestibular Disorders

Dear Colleagues,

We are confronted with a significant challenge in clinical practice today—vestibular disorders. These conditions, originating from both peripheral (e.g., inner ear and vestibular nerve) and central sources (e.g., brainstem, cerebellum, or psychological factors), afflict 15–35% of the global population at various points in their lives. Alarmingly, individuals diagnosed with vestibular disorders exhibit a markedly higher mortality rate, even when adjustments are made for their age, sex, and comorbidities compared to those without such conditions.

The intricate nature of vestibular disorders, combined with our still-evolving understanding of their root causes and the limited therapeutic options available, highlights the urgent need for personalized treatment methodologies. These should not only be confined to the immediate decisions undertaken by otolaryngologists and neurologists but also embrace a comprehensive approach that takes into account cellular mechanisms and the unique factors of each patient.

In recognition of this pressing need, we invite you to contribute to a Special Issue dedicated to pioneering research that seeks to enhance personalized approaches for the comprehension and treatment of vestibular disorders. We are particularly interested in interdisciplinary studies that can provide otolaryngologists and neurologists with new insights into this prevalent issue.

Your research has the potential to lead to significant advancements in our understanding and management of vertigo, heralding a new era of more precise and effective treatment options.
