Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Dear Authors,

The content of the research is relevant and the results are important for publication; however, for complete acceptance, I consider that statistical analysis of the displayed results should be conducted and the respective design included in the methodology.

Author Response

Dear reviewer,

First, we thank you for taking interest in our work and taking the time to provide a pertinent comment. We are sure that it will substantially increase the quality of this manuscript. We have made numerous changes to the manuscript in accordance with this comment. Please see below our detailed response.

Comment 1: The content of the research is relevant and the results are important for publication; however, for complete acceptance, I consider that statistical analysis of the displayed results should be conducted and the respective design included in the methodology.

Response 1: More information about statistical analysis were added with a new figure and table.

Also the paragraph L144-151 was rewritten to add more information and improve its clarity “Statistical analysis was performed using the JMP 16 Pro software (SAS Institute, Cary, NC, USA). The custom design of experiment platform was used to generate a central composite design (CCD) comprising two factors and three levels (Table 1). The fractional factorial design consists of 4 factorial points, 4 face-centered axial points, and 4 central points. The following variables and levels were tested: Buddy Maple Syrup (0.5, 12,75 and 25 g/L) and Yeast Extract (5, 10 and 15 g/L). Each condition was performed in triplicate. A standard least-square model was fitted to the data and the profiler used to identify values maximizing biomass.”
