Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Technology has noticeably changed educational approaches, especially in mathematics education, where it plays a vital role in both teaching and learning.  By ‘technology,’ we refer to a wide variety of technological tools and resources, including interactive applets, online homework systems, learning management systems, online games, interactive white boards, and more. Effective use of technology in mathematics teaching enhances students' learning of abstract concepts by providing dynamic, interactive, and visually rich learning environments, thereby supporting their mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills. 

Given the increasing accessibility of rapidly evolving technological tools and resources, it has become critical to explore, evaluate, and identify the instructional methods that effectively integrate technology into mathematics education. This Special Issue, “Technology and Mathematics Educations: Evaluation, Research, and Practice,” aims to highlight pioneering research that explores innovative ways of harnessing technology to advance mathematics teaching and learning at all educational levels. 

The importance of this research lies not only in its potential to improve individual student outcomes but also in its capacity to transform educational practices. Through rigorous evaluation and innovative research, this Special Issue intends to provide research-based insights that can inform and guide the effective use of technology in mathematics education.  We invite studies that do not only show measurable improvements in learning outcomes but also critically evaluate the pedagogical shifts driven by technological tools. This includes addressing challenges such as equitable access to technology, effective teacher training, and the sustainability of technology use in diverse educational settings. 

This Special Issue serves as a crucial platform for providing innovative research and practical insights that can shape the future of mathematics education. By contributing to “Technology and Mathematics Education: Evaluation, Research, and Practice,” researchers will obtain a unique opportunity to influence a broad audience of educators, policymakers, and academics and enhance innovative practices in mathematics education. Join us in this initiative to utilize technology to build more engaging, effective, inclusive, and enjoyable learning environments.

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process. Education Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
