Big Data Analytics for Social Good

Dear Colleagues,

The exponential growth of diverse data sources, such as text data from social media, DNA sequences from biology, sensor data from IoT devices, image and video data from public surveillance, and beyond, presents substantial opportunities to leverage big data analytics for social good. Therefore, this Special Issue aims to showcase innovative research at the intersection of big data and positive social impact.

We invite original research articles, review papers, and short communications that explore the application of big data approaches to address critical challenges in areas such as public health, smart cities, environmental sustainability, education, and community development. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

• Leveraging big data analytics for disease monitoring, prevention, and response using text, genomic, and sensor data;
• Applying big data to urban planning, transportation, and infrastructure for smart, sustainable cities using IoT and geospatial data;
• Using big data to model and mitigate the impacts of climate change and environmental issues across various data sources;
• Improving educational outcomes and access through data-driven insights from student performance, attendance, and engagement data;
• Enhancing community resilience and social services with big data analytics on demographic, economic, and social welfare data;
• Utilizing big data to identify and address socioeconomic disparities and promote social justice;
• Leveraging big data analytics to support humanitarian aid and disaster response efforts;
• Applying big data approaches to improve access to healthcare and social services in underserved communities;
• Using big data to inform policy decisions and drive evidence-based policymaking for the public good;
• Addressing ethical, privacy, and security considerations in big data for social good.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Mathematics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
