Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Biomarkers are indicators that are generated by cells, tissue, organs, and biological activities in the body. The evaluation of a change in biomarkers is critical in modern medical practice because it reveals the status of health conditions and functioning of the body, and it is the main method for disease diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring and for tracking therapy effects. In particular, the timely and accurate detection of biomarkers, at the early stage of disease, would help physicians to make decisions on intervention and treatments, preventing the disease progressing and giving rise to better outcomes. With cutting-edge advancements in sensing technology, nanotechnology, optics, chemical and material science and engineering, artificial intelligence, and biomarkers discovery, various emerging biosensors are designed and fabricated to address the unmet clinical demand, holding great promise in revolutionizing healthcare diagnostics and disease management. This Special Issue, therefore, seeks to encourage scientists and engineers in bioengineering to share their most recent discoveries, methodologies, and technological advancements in the field of biosensors.

We invite authors to submit their original research articles, communications, and review papers on topics including but not limited to sensors for multiplex biomarker detection, sensors for ultrasensitive biomarker detection, wearable sensors, and point-of-care sensors.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Bioengineering is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
