Information – A New Open Access Scientific Journal on Information Science, Information Technology, Data, Knowledge and Communication

We plan to expand our Open Access publishing project to encompass additional fundamental areas in science and technology and to provide publication opportunities for scientists working in these areas. To achieve these goals, we are in the process of launching new journals.

We have also just founded a company MDPI AG [1,2] in Basel in order to run the Open Access publishing project as a business and publish journals more professionally.

Information is one of the basic phenomena in nature, society and technology. A lot of research and technological developments are related to information. Based on our success in running journals that represent key concepts and cover hot topics in science and technology, such as Entropy [3], Symmetry [4], Diversity [5] and Sustainability [6], we are launching a new journal entitled Information. It is an Open Access journal encompassing information science, information technology, data processing, knowledge acquisition and communication. This journal will embrace a very broad area of scholarly studies ranging from the basic information theory to information technology and communication technology. The journal will publish theoretical and methodological results in these areas, applications of such results, experimental investigations, and practical findings related to information and knowledge, which have become the most valuable resources of contemporary society.
