Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are organizing a Special Issue on the “Global Prostate Cancer Disparities in Men of West African Ancestry” in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (IJERPH). IJERPH is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes articles and communications in the interdisciplinary area of environmental health sciences and public health. For detailed information on the journal, we refer you to https://www.mdpi.com/journal/ijerph.

Although prostate cancer mortality and morbidity have declined since the 1990s, men of West African ancestry are still disproportionately affected by prostate cancer. Of particular concern is the signitifcant burden of prostate cancer that has been documented among men of West African ancestry in the Americas, Caribbean, Europe, and West Africa. The complexity of prostate cancer disparity and the need for a unique approach to better understand and address this complex disease has resulted in multilevel, collaborative, transdisciplinary, translational, and global health research. Of special importance are environmental factors implicated in prostate cancer disparitiy among a population of Black men who are genetically connected. Identifying these environmental factors will bring us closer to understanding and addressing prostate cancer disparities globally.

This Special Issue is open to any subject area that addresses the environmental factors implicated in prostate cancer among men of West African ancestry globally. The list of keywords provides examples of the interest areas.
