Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The Journal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease is launching a Special Issue on “Heart Failure in Older Adults”. Heart failure (HF), sometimes known as congestive heart failure (CHF), occurs when the heart is unable to pump sufficiently to maintain blood flow to meet the body's needs. The incidence is highest among older adults. An estimated 6.5 million adults in the United States have heart failure, and approximately 960,000 new cases of heart failure occur annually in the United States. Approximately 80% of patients hospitalized with heart failure are older than 65 years. This Special Issue will cover, but not limited to epidemiology, pathophysiology, and prognosis of heart failure in the older adult; treatment patterns, management and outcomes of elderly HF patients.
