Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

On 26–29 June, 2018, in Warsaw, Poland, we will hold the 3rd International Scientific Conference: Modern Steels and Iron AlloysMSIA’2018. The conference is organized by the Warsaw University of Technology.

The conference is devoted to new achievements in the field of AHS Steels, including nanostructured, CP and TRIP steels, as well as modern ADI grades and nanostructured cast iron alloys. New methods of heat treatment, thermomechanical treatment, and processes combining heat treatment and surface engineering, based on phase transformation investigations, will also be presented. Special attention will be paid to quenching distortion phenomena. Another important topic of the conference will concern the practical applications of modern steels and cast iron, as well as new welding technologies.

The invited speakers, who will present their research, are the best experts on the subject of nanostructured steels, phase and microstructural transformations and modern heat treatment methods of steels.

The organizers hope that the presented papers will gave a good picture of the current state of research in the field of modern steel structure, properties, as well as innovative heat treatments. The directions in which steel and iron alloy development will evolve, will also be presented.

It is expected that representatives from the metallurgy, machine and automotive industries, as well as manufacturers of technological devices, will also attend the conference. The conference will act as a platform for the establishment of new contacts between scientists and entrepreneurs. Such a meeting will foster a greater exchange of knowledge between academic centers and partners from the industry sector.

The research papers presented at the conference will be published in a Special Issue of Metals.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Metals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
