Editorial Board Member Assoc. Prof. Simon Conn representing Non-Coding RNA at EMBO Workshop “Noncoding RNAs in embryonic development and cell differentiation” 2018

Assoc. Prof. Simon Conn (Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia), who is serving as Editorial Board Member for Non-Coding RNA, attended the European Molecular Biology Organisation “Noncoding RNAs in embryonic development and cell differentiation” workshop, held at the Weizmann Institute of Science (Rehovot, ISRAEL) between April 8th and 11th (http://meetings.embo.org/event/18-ncrna).

As a follow-up to the hugely successful meeting in 2016, this workshop once again accumulated world leaders in non-coding RNA research and provided an intimate forum to exchange information and discuss the latest findings into the roles of ncRNAs as critical effectors of cell development and differentiation.

Assoc. Prof. Simon Conn, one of the pioneers in the circular RNA research field, contributed to this conference by presenting his work entitled “Exhaustive Circular RNA Profiling Across Human Stem Cell Differentiation”. In this presentation, Assoc. Prof. Conn elaborated on the regulation of circular RNAs throughout differentiation of human stem cells into 5 distinct cell lineages, and how diversification of circular RNA identity is permitting the identification of novel functions for this enigmatic class of ncRNA molecules.
