Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In 2013, we launched the journal Publications (ISSN 2304-6775), an international, open access journal on scholarly publishing, to provide insight into the drivers of change in the publishing business. Over the last 12 months, we have published 17 papers in such important areas as Open Access, Metrics in Publishing, Misconduct in Scientific Publishing, to name just a few. Some of the papers were downloaded more than 1000 times, and became popular on the social media channels. We are indeed pleased and proud of this first year of Publications.

We would like to thank our authors and readers for their interest and contributions which enabled Publications to make such great progress in its inaugural year. We also acknowledge the efforts of our Editorial Board members, who have handled the peer review procedure for our journal and the many expert reviewers who have, so generously, given their valuable time to ensure the quality of our journal. We trust that Publications will continue to fulfill a need for on-line, open access scientific communication in the publishing field.

We are now about to launch a special issue to celebrate the anniversary of Publications, and report on recent advances in the publishing field. Please let us know of any topics you believe should be covered in this anniversary issue, as well as advising us if you would like to make a contribution to it. We welcome your ideas and look forward to your contributions to our journal in 2014 and beyond.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Publications is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
