Special Issue Information

Dear Collegues,

Being a researcher is to be creative. Often, one talks about cross-disciplinarity and it is a very important tool to generate novel ideas and scientific discovery, by foresight and hard work or even by chance. However, creativity is so much more.

Collaborating scientists, agreeing and more importantly disagreeing have resulted in important discoveries of the fundamental properties of nature, such as the discovery of the Higgs boson. Having contradictory measurements from Dark Matter searches could prove to be the key to a better or new understanding of this phenomenon. Being persistent and trying again and again could result in a break-through in anti-matter research changing the nature of the experiments. Testing the obvious, questioning the established, and searching for what we expect to be right but have not tested, could be the key to more profound understanding of natural phenomena.

Painting a picture, composing music or expressing emotions through dance has a lot in common with doing research. It is a lot of hard work, a never-ending learning process and an infinite well of mistakes. All with the hope of that a tiny flash of genius will occur which may result in a moment of truth. Often science moves in many small incremental steps before taking a new turn or a big step forward. Can we use our creativity in new ways to fast forward scientific discovery and new understanding about nature?

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Symmetry is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
