Advances in Insect Virology and Immunology

Dear Colleagues,

Insects are the largest group of animals distributed throughout the earth, including economically important insects (e.g. silkworms, honeybees), agricultural and forestry pests (e.g. locusts, stink bugs, armyworms, weevils), human disease vectors (e.g. mosquitoes, ticks), and model organisms (e.g. Drosophila, Tribolium, silkworms). However, the immunological and virological studies of insects have not received the attention they deserve. In recent years, more and more researchers have begun to delve into the interaction between insect viruses and hosts using increasingly sophisticated approaches, and innovative achievements have emerged in the fields of insect virology and immunology research. Therefore, the aim of this Special Issue is to publish original research papers or reviews concerning the advances in insect virology and immunology.

Areas of interest: The discovery of new insect viruses. Insect viral metagenomics. The function of insect virus genes. Insect virus and host interaction. Immune response to insect viral infection. The mechanism of insect response to viral infection. The function of insect immune genes. Identification of new immune genes in insects.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Animals is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
