(E)-(1-(4-Ethoxycarbonylphenyl)-5-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-3-(3,4-dimethoxystyryl)-2-pyrazoline: Synthesis, Characterization, DNA-Interaction, and Evaluation of Activity Against Drug-Resistant Cell Lines
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
This is a good Molbank paper describing synthesis of a compound of medicinal interest together with studies of its activity. Both the synthesis and characterization and the biological studies have been performed to a good standard and it can be accepted with only some very minor corrections as follows:
line 44 - 3,5-divinylpyrazole all one word
line 56 - replace "single molecule" by "the relative configuration"
line 73 - "desired pyrazoline 6" (no s at end)
line 191 - 55.46 signal CH3 subscript
line 195 -add after the molecular formula (M++H)
line 269 - no hyphen in successfully
The supplementary material is presented to a good standard and needs no changes.
Author Response
We would like to thank the reviewer for spotting those mistakes which were accordingly corrected/additions made and they appear in the revised manuscript with the "track changes" system.
Reviewer 2 Report
In this paper authors present synthesis and structural characterization and biological evaluation of a new pyrazoline derivative. The introduction provides a sufficient background. Synthesis and structural characterization are well described. The DNA binding evaluation could be implemented by NMR study.
I think it would be interesting to oxidize the pyrazoline ring to pyrazole and evaluate the activity of it; and to increase the library with new analogues with different functional groups also prepared in enantioselective way.
I found a refuse at
line 102: temperature instead of temperature
line 188: reference is not numbered
in the SI section, please specify if data are related to the recrystallized compound
Overall I suggest to accept the paper in the present form, with very small modifications
Author Response
The reviewer's suggestion to oxidize the molecule to the corresponding pyrazole is indeed currently under investigation in our lab. We would also like to thank the reviewer for the constructive suggestion to enrich the library with a variation of functional groups and enantioselective purity will become the scope of a future manuscript. We also added/corrected /amended all the points suggested by the reviewer, but it was difficult to clearly understand and identify the comment" line 188: reference is not numbered".
In the SI section was also clearly mentioned that all data refer to the ethanol precipitated material.
