Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper proposed and analyzed the twin hybrid Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (THAUV), which is actuated by the two buoyancy engines and two thrusters. The structure of THAUV is more compact and simpler. In this paper, a new compact THAUV is designed and CFD simulation is used to obtain the hydrodynamic parameters of THAUV operation in water. The goals and motivation of such a study are relatively straightforward. After considering the issues outlined below, the revised paper can contribute to the journal.

1.       Author's nationality should be the same writing format.

2.       Keywords should highlight the research key points.

3.       The structural size of THAUV should be introduced clearly.

4.       What commercial software was used?

5.       Please provide the mesh information and grid independence verification.

6.       Is there any experimental data to validate the CFD simulation?

7.       How to consider the influence of the water surface?

8.       The authors should provide more references especially in the recent years.

1.      The authors must be explained the all symbol/ mass characteristic as a table of nomenclature in the manuscript.

2.      In the manuscript has not shown any principal dimension of the model.  It is better if the authors if the authors show the principal dimension of the model in the manuscript.

3.      In the part 2 and 3 “ 2. Structure of the THAUV; 3. Mathematic model” shows the only theory  and equation, it has not shown any information or valuate of the THAUV in the manuscript. The authors must be shown the information of the THAUV as used in the manuscript.

4.      In the part 4. Hydrodynamic analysis. The authors used CFD technology, but it is not clearly explained. What is the CFD technology that used in the manuscript. The authors must be clearly about the CFD technology that used in the manuscript.

5.      The authors shout be given information/ comment or validation of the used CFD about computed domain, mesh, viscous model and others.

6.      In the figure 5 must be shown the dimension of the models as shown.

7.      The results as shown in these figures 6 to 10 better changed in to the non dimension form.
