Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I like this review. There are many interesting data.

Some minor remarks:

  • the quality of some Figures should be improved (11, 14, 17)
  • there are some typos, please read it carefully

Reviewer 2 Report

This paper provides useful information on the electrocoagulation process and gives a good overview of the current state of development in the implementation of various flow reactors used in different types of water treatment. The article is well written and can be recommended for publication in Processes as is with a minor revision.

Some minor corrections are listed below:

Line 19. Maybe “bench scale” is not the best term. Maybe batch process could be used.

Figure 3. is confusing with all the lines. I suggest removing it or redesign it.

Lines 172-179. This text could be in table or in figure.

Line 249-711. Since Authors have supplement table, I would suggest shortening this part about different types of reactors, because in supplement there are all information’s. Maybe only some key findings from those papers should be mentioned, and details can be found in supplement. This is my suggestion just to shorten the text and not to lose focus during the reading.

Line 265. As removal is depending on filtration step after adsorption. Maybe it should be mentioned what type of filtration was used in all As removal setups after EC treatment. Or al least mention this information in text.

Line 359. This sentence has a word sequence that makes it hard to read and understand. … by introducing the water to be treated with a pump.

Line 384. … in the first…

Figure 17. This Fig is not clear, I would suggest removing it. This is not schematic; this is a photo, and it is hard to understand what it represents.

Line 847. ozonization

Figure 21. is maybe unnecessary because there is Table 3 with all hybrid processes.

Line 941. … growth of the flocs…

Line 944. Delete “also been”
