Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The article is well structured and well written.
The topic it addresses is of interest and provides concrete experience that
may be interesting for researchers working in the field of vernacular
architecture and earthen architecture.
It is only suggested that the reference to the book be included:

Correia, Dipasquale, Mecca (ed): Terra Europae. Earthen Architecture in
the European Union, 2011

Author Response

Dear Reviewer 1

Thank you for reviewing our manuscript. The suggested book is indeed an important reference on European earth architecture. Due to our focus on the Citizen Science approach we just don't had it on our agenda. We have included it in the revised article in the introduction section.

Furthermore, we have made a spell check and did some minor corrections and adaptations regarding the language and punctuation.

Reviewer 2 Report

excellent contribution that poses a central question in the conservation and enhancement of the intangible heritage of knowledge. the proposed methodology is effective and could constitute a standard to be disseminated at European and international level. effective contribution to knowledge management applied to the tangible and intangible heritage of earthen architecture. it could be the basis of a major European research project.

Author Response

Dear Reviewer 2

Thank you for reviewing our manuscript and your very positive response. One goal of the project was to design it in a way that it can be enhanced and adopted regarding the spatial and thematic content. A European wide application could have a significant impact on the visibility and broader understanding of earthen architecture.

As suggested, we made a spell check and did some minor corrections and adaptations regarding the language and punctuation.

Reviewer 3 Report

In this paper, the authors propose an interesting and not so common "CITIZEN" application to investigate the construction techniques, conservation rate of building, with the addition of an online quiz to involve a younger audience.

As a minor review, I suggest translating figures 4 and 5 into English.
