Dear Authors,

Please see the feedback below:

A simple method for estimating stomatal conductance from temperature measurements on intact leaves and wet and dry artificial reference leaves is interesting and will be beneficial in greenhouse plant cultivation.

1.        The background of the study in the abstract must be improved as it is currently vague and lacks the reasoning behind this research.

2.        The methodology section in the abstract should be summarised and the authors should focus on the research results.

3.        The conclusion is included and is well summarised.

4.        The introduction requires reference to literature as several citations are missing- please improve throughout this section.

5.        There is a lack of flow between the environmental control techniques and the dynamics of stomatal opening.

6.        There seems to be information in the theoretical background that does not belong there and should be removed.

7.        Information regarding the sample leaves should be included as to whether the plant is naturally grown or collected from the wild and potted.

8.        Kindly ensure that’s methods are reported in the past tense.

9.        Results and discussion contain many graphs and tables however the accompanying discussion is lacking and must be improved.

1.   The conclusion lacks flow and consistency and must be improved. Expand on future expectations of this research.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

1. The title of the manuscripts "A simple method for estimating stomatal conductance from temperature measurements on intact leaves and wet and dry artificial reference leaves" needs to changed. It has language error and also not communicating the work flow of the manuscript.

2. Author says "The SOI can be approximated as the ratio of the conductance of the intact leaf to the conductance of the wet reference leaf, which  varies from 0 to 1." What is the unit of the value 0 and 1.

3. Generally abstract and conclusion needs to be supported with analytical information. These two are missing.

4.What the author try to say  wasted resources?

5.The introduction part has lagging of reference citations.

6. Some of the variables notations are missing in heat balance of a leaf  equation:

R − H − λE = R − c p g Ha (TL − Ta ) − λg vL (es (TL ) − ea )/pa = 0

7. Check equation 5 and 6 correctness and also over writing.

8.A clear image is required for Figure 1. Conceptual diagram of the relationship between the SOI and stomatal opening.

9.Some spell mistakes are present in Figure 2. Overview of the measurement experiment with intact leaves, dry reference leaves, and  wet reference leaves.

10. What the author says "Wet reference leaves were moistened with pure water 20 minutes before the experiment started." Give chemical standard parameters. For a good research article this is important.

11.Use only colour images in the manuscripts.

12. What is SAI and SOI?

13. The Figure 6. Effect of the emissivity set values set in a thermal image camera on the surface temperatures of intact leaves, dry reference leaves, and wet reference leaves needs to be a colour one similarly in more locations.

14.What is the axis parameter units in Figure 7. Effect of the emissivity values set in a thermal image camera on the SOI?

15. References are not sufficient. For a good research article minimum 30 numbers required.
