NDT | Call for Topical Collection Proposals

This call for topical collection proposal aims to develop strategic topics for the development of NDT (ISSN: 2813-477X) under the leadership of renowned and established research scientists.

Scholars with research experience in topics including, but not limited to, the following fields related to NDT are welcomed:

  • Advances in NDT methods, theories, and new developments (stand-alone or combined use of conventional and state-of-the-art NDTs);
  • Sensing, processing, integration, and fusion of multi-source, multi-scale, and multi-temporal data and information from NDT technologies;
  • Innovation and research for the development of new, fully deployed, and prototype stand-alone or multi-sensing hardware and software technology;
  • ICT for NDT data management and visualization;
  • Contributions of NDTs for the development of new standards, policies, and best practices.

Main responsibilities of Collection Editors:

Collection Editors are responsible for editing Topical Collections, and they are encouraged to invite colleagues from the same research field to contribute by:

  • Preparing the Collection’s title, aim and scope, summary, and keywords;
  • Providing a list of potential contributors;
  • Pre-screening and supervising the whole peer-review process, and making decisions on new submissions in their own Collection;
  • Promoting the Collection at conferences, on social media as well as on other relevant platforms.

The Editorial Office is responsible for looking after the technical aspects of the editorial process, with the aim of minimizing the workload of Collection Editors. Once the Collection has been launched, the MDPI team will take care of setting up the website, arranging relevant promotional material, assisting with invitations to contribute papers, and all related administrative tasks associated with the peer-review.

Benefits for Collection Editors include:

  • The opportunity to publish one paper free of charge in the Collection, as well as further discount opportunities for papers invited from the editors’ scientific network;
  • Being issued with a formal certificate to recognize the role of Editor of a Topical Collection;
  • NDT may offer sponsorship for conferences organized by Collection Editors within the Topical Collection’s area of research;
  • Benefiting from a Mentor Program for early career researchers (postdoc researchers/new faculty), to facilitate proposing novel ideas for new collections.

Qualification requirements for Collection Editors:

  • Expertise and experience in a field related to the journal;
  • Being within approximately 10 years of receiving a Ph.D.;
  • At least 6 published papers in the last 5 years as the first author or the corresponding author;
  • Currently holding an independent research position in academia or a government institute.
