Beatriz Pedro Vieira Neto, MSc (ORCID 0000-0002-5955-9904), graduated in Biology with a specialization in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, Portugal (2017-2020). During her bachelor’s, she participated in the Erasmus+ Programme, which provided her with the opportunity to expand her knowledge in the fields of Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Aarhus University, Denmark. Within the scope of her curricular internship at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, she carried out the project entitled “Quantification of Moloney murine leukemia virus’ surface proteins by flow cytometry”. She took her master’s degree in Molecular Medicine and Oncology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, Portugal, and developed her master’s thesis project at the Molecular Oncology and Viral Pathology group of the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Porto (IPOP) (2020-2022). Currently, she is engaged in a Research Fellowship Programme (NRN-LPCC 2023) at IPOP, which consists of studying biomarkers of venous thromboembolism in cervical cancer patients from the North of Portugal, aiming for a more tailored thromboprophylaxis and better cancer management.
Inês Nunes Ribeiro da Mota, MSc student: ines.mota@ipoporto.min-saude.pt (ORCID: 0000-0002-1016-6691). She has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto and is currently attending the second year of the Cell and Molecular Biology Master’s programme at the same institution. Her Bachelor’s project focused on neurologic diseases and was conducted in the UnIGENe group at i3S – Institute for Research and Innovation in Health, under the title “Analysis of RAMP1 Genetic Variants Associated With Migraine”. At this moment, she is developing her Master’s dissertation in the Molecular Oncology and Viral Pathology research group at CI-IPO, which is entitled “Lipolytic and browning activity during cancer cachexia: Are there molecular differences between male and female K14-HPV16 transgenic mice?” and she aims to establish accurate molecular therapeutic targets within adipose tissue of each gender to fight cancer-associated cachexia.
