Bashir Bietar earned a BSc in Microbiology and Immunology from Dalhousie University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Pharmacology. His work in pharmacology and neuroscience has resulted in several publications, presentations, and seminars. His research interests include stroke and related pathologies, the endocannabinoid system, and the immune system.
Christian Lehmann received his MD from Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany, a Ph.D. from the same university, and an FRCPC from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada. He is a Professor of
Anesthesia, Pharmacology, Microbiology, and Immunology and Physiology and Biophysics at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada. He is also a cross-appointee in the Faculty of Computer Science at Dalhousie University and an Adjunct Professor of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the Charité University Hospital, Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany. He is a Staff Anesthesiologist and Medical Director of Research in the Department of Anesthesia, Pain Management, and Perioperative Medicine, Nova Scotia Health Authority, Halifax. His research interests include the immune consequences of local and systemic inflammation (e.g., sepsis, stroke), intravital imaging of the microcirculation in animal models and clinical studies, and the development of new pharmacological approaches for pain and inflammation.
