Yuri Battaglia is an associate professor in Nephrology at the University of Verona and the Head of the Nephrology and Dialysis Unit at Pederzoli Hospital, Peschiera del Garda, Verona. He earned his Ph.D. at the Department of Nephrology and Dialysis of the University Federico II of Naples and the University of Parm in 2015. He is also Chair of the working group “Physical Exercise in a patient with chronic kidney disease” of the Italian Society of Nephrology (SIN).
Antonio Pisani is a physician-scientist with a long-standing interest in the basic and clinical aspects of basal ganglia dysfunction, with a specific interest in dystonia and Parkinson’s disease. As Head of the Neurophysiology and Plasticity Laboratory at Fondazione Santa Lucia in Rome, he provides guidance in the planning and execution of the experiments. Since 2003–2004, he has been deeply involved in research on dystonia, focusing on the role of striatal function in the pathogenesis of this movement disorder. In detail, he focused on the functional interplay between striatal dopamine and acetylcholine, characterizing the alterations occurring in distinct rodent models of DYT1 dystonia. His long-term commitment to this field of research is witnessed by the number of peer-reviewed publications as well as by the organization of four editions of an international workshop on dystonia (2007–2009, 2011–2013). As a neurologist involved full-time in clinical practice, his main scope has been to try to fill the gaps between basic neuroscience and clinical neurology by working on animal models of human diseases, specifically movement disorders.
Giuseppe Coppolino has been an Associate Professor of Nephrology at the University Magna Graecia of Catanzaro since 2018. From 2015 to 2018, he was a nephrologist at the Hospital “Pugliese-Ciaccio” in Catanzaro. His research interests mainly focus on CV complications of renal diseases and markers of CKD and AKI. Since 2012, he has been a member of the Cochrane collaboration and participates in reviewing protocols for the Hypertension and Renal Cochrane group.
Raffaele Serra received his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University Magna Graecia of Catanzaro, Catanzaro, Italy, in 1999, and a Ph.D. in Clinical and Experimental Biotechnology in Veins and Lymphatic Diseases from the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgical Science, University of Perugia, Perugia, Italy, in 2009. From 2008 to 2016, he was an assistant professor of surgery at the University Magna Graecia of Catanzaro, Catanzaro, Italy. From 2016 until now, he has been an Associate Professor of Vascular Surgery at the University Magna Graecia of Catanzaro, Catanzaro, Italy. In the year 2017, he achieved the national scientific qualification of Full Professor of Surgery, and in the year 2020, he achieved the national scientific qualification of Full Professor of Vascular Surgery. His research interests mainly focus on general surgery, vascular surgery, phlebology, lymphology, and biomarkers.
Michele Andreucci is a professor at the Department of Health Sciences at Magna Græcia University, Italy. He earned his Ph.D. in "Pathophysiology of Renal Failure" from the University of Parma. He was awarded at national and international nephrology congresses. To date, he has over 200 publications in international, peer-reviewed scientific journals, with more than 5000 citations (h-index = 41 in Scopus).
