Rui Caetano Oliveira completed his M.Sc. at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra, Portugal, and he kept studying as a postgraduate at this university. After that, he achieved his Ph.D. at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto. He worked as a Specialist in Pathological Anatomy at the General Surgery Department, Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal, and currently he is the Head of the Pathology Department of Centro de Anatomia Patológica Germano de Sousa. Before his current role, he was a Fellow in Liver Pathology at ESP Advanced Center for Liver Pathology at the Institute of Medical Genetics and Pathology, University Hospital Basel.
Dr. Pedro Silva-Vaz is currently a Graduate Assistant (Consultant) of the General Surgery Department, at Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra, Portugal. He has been a Surgeon at the Health Local Unit of Castelo Branco since 2005. From 2006 to 2023, he was Assistant Professor of Surgery of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Universidade da Beira Interior. His research interests are focused on the study of colorectal pathology, colorectal cancer, cytology, and acute pancreatitis.
José Guilherme Tralhão completed his M.Sc. in Medicine at
the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra (FMUC) and two Ph.D. —one
from FMUC, the other from the Faculty of Medicine, Paris Descartes University. He
is an Assistant Professor at FMUC and a Graduated Hospital Assistant in the
Surgery Service A of Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra. His main
areas of research are general surgery, especially of the pancreas,
hepatobiliary and coloproctology, the study of pre- and postoperative
hepatocellular function, oncology with special emphasis on primary liver tumors
and colorectal cancer with an aim of finding new therapies against these types of
tumors.
