Alba Taboada Villamarín is graduated in Sociology from the Complutense University of Madrid. She holds a Master's in Big Data Science from the University of Navarra. In 2022, she was a scholarship recipient at the Center for Sociological Research (CIS). Currently, she is a pre-doctoral research staff member in training (FPI) linked to the I-D CONCERN project (PID2020-115095RB-I00) and a doctoral student in the Economics and Business Program at the Autonomous University of Madrid. She is also part of the I+D NON-CONSPIRA-HATE! project team (PID2021-123983OB-I00).
Her research focuses on new methodological approaches through big data and machine learning applied to social sciences, health, online hate speech, fake news, conspiracy theories, distrust in scientific systems, and COVID-19, as well as studies in science, technology, and society.
Cristóbal Torres Albero is a university full professor in the Department of Sociology at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), where he served as the director from 2013 to 2016. He was the President of the Center for Sociological Research (CIS) from the end of 2016 until June 2018.
His usual academic field of work is the analysis of social phenomena associated with the current development of the information and knowledge society, with a special focus on technoscience and the dynamics of public opinion, as well as social theory and methodological problems in social sciences. On these topics, he has published a dozen books with major Spanish social science publishers (Alianza Universidad, Siglo XXI, CIS, etc.), including reference works for the academic community such as the "Diccionario de Sociología" published by Alianza Editorial and "España 2015. Situación social" edited by CIS, which received the award for the best social sciences book at the XIX (2016) National University Publishing Awards (UNE). He is also the author of over one hundred articles, book chapters, and working papers published in national and international journals and publishers, including prestigious journals indexed in the Journal Citation Report and Scopus (Public Understanding of Science, Rationality and Society, Sociologia Ruralis, Information Sciences, Communication Studies, REIS, RIS, RES, etc.).
