She received her PhD in Chemistry in 2000 from the University of Wuerzburg, Germany. After her post-doc at the University of Western Ontario, she received a faculty position in Chemical Engineering at the University of Maine. In 2008, she relocated to the University of Delaware, USA. She uses novel imaging approaches such as AFM and the family of Image Correlation Spectroscopy to define cellular processes during stem cell differentiation and skeletal formation. Moreover, utilizing novel techniques and tools such as real time imaging and nanoparticles, she focuses on protein dynamics in cells as well as on protein distribution in mice.
