Robert Sitarz received his M.D. from the Medical University of Lublin in 2003 and a Ph.D. from the University Medical Center Utrecht in 2009. In the same year he also received his Ph.D. from the Medical University of Lublin. After passing his exams in 2017, he practiced as a specialist surgeon. He completed numerous scientific and clinical internships in foreign centers, including UMC Utrecht and AMC Amsterdam. His work has been recognized by receiving grants and awards from the following organizations: ECCO, PSSO (Individual Research Award, 2016), ESO, ESSO, UICC, EMBO, Minister of Health, Poland and the Stella Major Foundation (Switzerland). He is now a University Professor at the Department of Human Anatomy, Medical University of Lublin and specialist surgeon at the Department of Surgical Oncology, St. John’s Cancer Center, Lublin, Poland. His top areas of expertise are as follows: the surgical treatment of gastrointestinal cancer (stomach, pancreas, liver), breast cancer surgery, endocrine surgery, and the molecular basis of cancer diseases, particularly in the stomach (early-onset gastric cancer).
