Author Biographies

Daniela Fischerova is a Full Professor at the Department of Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Neonatology, First Faculty of Medicine, First Medical Faculty, Charles University in Prague. She earned her M.D. and Ph.D. from the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, in 1996 and 2008, respectively. She is also a Board member of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) and the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO) and serves as the Vice president of the Czech Ultrasound Society in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her main clinical research focuses on the implementation of ultrasound in diagnosing, staging and personalising management of gynecologic cancer.
Dr. Filip Frühauf is a searcher at Gynecologic Oncology Centre, Department of Gynaecology, Obstetrics, and Neonatology, First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and General University Hospital in Prague. He obtained his degree from the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague. His research is focused on the diagnosis and management of patients with gynaecological malignancies, including vulvar, vaginal, cervical, endometrial, ovarian, and primary peritoneal cancers, uterine sarcomas, and rare tumours.

Dr. Elena Gatti is currently a Gyn-Obs resident in the Department of Biomedical Science for Health at the University of Milan, Italy, attending Macedonio Melloni Hospital. She earned her degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 2021 with a thesis conducted at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO). She is currently attending an internship in Gynecology Oncology ultrasound at First Faculty of Medicine Charles University, Prague. Her main areas of study are Obstetrics and Gynecology, with a special interest towards gynecology oncology.
Dr. David Cibula is a professor at Charles University. After graduating from the 1st Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague, he joined the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the 1st Medical Faculty of Charles University, where he still works today. He first studied gynaecological endocrinology, later focusing on gynaecological oncology. Since 2003, he has been the head of the Oncogynecology Center at the General University Hospital in Prague. During his leadership, the centre—originally a small unit—became one of the largest gynecologic oncology centres in Europe. His contribution to postgraduate education in onco-gynaecological surgery is also very significant and includes the development of educational DVDs (also used abroad and approved by ESGO), the establishment of the ESGO video library (the site with the highest traffic on the ESGO educational portal), conducting of international internships in radical surgery. He has previously served as the President of the European Society of Gynecological Oncology, as well as leading the International Group on Guidelines and Quality Indicators in Cervical Surgery. He is the founder and chairman of the Central and Eastern European Collaborative Group for Clinical Studies in Oncogynaecology. He also founded two charities supporting patients with gynaecological oncological diseases and research in gynaecological oncology. He is the author and co-author of hundreds of articles.
