Georgios Katsanos graduated from Aristotle University, School of Medicine, in 1996. In 2003, he completed his PhD thesis at Aristotle University, School of Medicine, titled “Serine Hydroxylmethylotransferase Activity in Various Cell Lines”. From 2000 to 2018, he moved to Belgium, where he obtained his Emergency Medicine Diploma from Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium, in 2005 and his General Surgery Diploma, from Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium, in 2007. In 2016, he obtained his Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Diploma from Paul Brousse Hospital, Université Paris Sud, Paris, France. He has worked as a Senior Consultant Surgeon in university hospitals in Paris, France, and in Brussels, Belgium, in the field of hepatobiliary surgery and abdominal solid organ transplantation from 2010 to 2018. In May 2018, he moved to Greece was employed as Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Department of Transplantation, Ippokrateion Hospital of Thessaloniki, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Medicine. Throughout his career, he has been involved in the teaching of medical students and training programs for surgical residents in Belgium and Greece as well as in postgraduate teaching courses at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has participated in numerous research protocols, has published in international journals as well as book chapters, and has 321 international bibliographic references.

Georgios Tsoulfas received his medical degree from Brown University School of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, as well as a transplant research fellowship at the Starzl Transplant Institute at the University of Pittsburgh. He then completed a two-year transplantation surgery fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and then joined the Division of Solid Organ Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center as an Associate Professor of Surgery. He has moved back to Greece as of now, where he is a Professor of Transplantation Surgery and Chief at the Department of Transplantation Surgery at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki School of Medicine. He has published over 180 papers in peer-reviewed journals and in PubMed, as well as 35 book chapters with an H-index of 29. He has edited six books and is a reviewer for 30 international journals and is on the editorial board of several others, including International Surgery and Annals of Surgical Oncology. His clinical and research interests include hepatobiliary surgery, primary and secondary hepatic malignancies, ischemia/reperfusion injury, solid organ transplantation, as well as medical/surgical education and the use of technology, such as the applications of artificial technology and 3D printing in surgery.
