Carlo Salati graduated from Medicine and Surgery at the University of Udine in 1992 with the highest marks. Starting in August 2000, he started the vitreo-retinal surgery service at the Operational Unit of the Palmanova Ophthalmology Division, attending and holding numerous surgery courses in the front and back segments. In October 2000, he started a collaboration on the surgical activity of the front segment at the Hospital of Latisana (Udine). He collaborated with the Janach company for the production of irons and surgical equipment, in particular for the realization of surgical instruments used for cataracts. In February 2002, he collaborated with the Day-Surgery of the Hospital of Tolmezzo and Gemona, performing cataract surgeries. He is responsible for the surgical retinal clinic of the SOC of Ophthalmology of the university hospital in Udine. Expert surgeon of the front and posterior segment with more than 12,000 surgeries carried out, he also gained experience in the diagnosis and treatment of the retinopathies of the premature by laser collaboration with the neonatal SOC of the same company. Author of many publications in national and international journals, he has been invited several times by the Italian Ophthalmological Society (SOI) to perform surgical interventions as a teacher of various sessions.

Marco Zeppieri obtained a degree in biology from the University of Toronto in 1992. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Milan-Bicocca, Italy, in 2003. He then obtained his specialization in ophthalmology at the University of Udine in 2007. In 2012, he completed his Ph.D. at the University of Udine. He also completed a post-doctoral glaucoma research fellowship at the Discoveries in Sight, Devers Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon, USA in 2006. He obtained his national qualifications as a 2° level university professor in 2018. Since January 2008, he has worked as an ophthalmologist at the Department of Ophthalmology at Santa Maria Della Misericordia Hospital in Udine, Italy. He has won several awards, such as the Best Video SOI (2004), AIGS Travel Grant (2007), and ARVO GB Bietti Foundation for Ophthalmology Travel Grant (2007). His scientific interests include new techniques for the morphological and functional diagnosis of ocular hypertension and glaucoma, the use of stem cells for corneal wound lesions, ocular surface and lid diagnostics and treatments, and community-based screening procedures. He has participated as an invited speaker at numerous national and international ophthalmology conferences. He is a reviewer for numerous international peer-reviewed journals. He is the author of over 50 book chapters and indexed scientific publications in international scientific journals.
