Thierry Beths is an Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne. He joined U-Vet Hospital of the University of Melbourne in February 2012. He was the Head of the Anesthesia and Pain Management service until September 2021, when he decided to retire from that function to focus on Animal Welfare, Pain, and associated clinical research. He has a keen interest in pain management and is creating an Integrative Pain Centre based at U-Vet Hospital with some colleagues. He is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture (Chi Institute and China National Society of TCVM Florida, USA) and as a Veterinary Pain Practitioner (CVPP) from the International Veterinary Association of Pain Management (IVAPM). In 2018, after finishing his Postgrad Diploma in Clinical Pain Management (University of Edinburgh, UK), he decided to carry on and transform it into a Master’s in Clinical Pain Management which he finished in 2020 with distinction. He has published 44 papers with 568 citations and an h-index of 14 (Scopus, 12 December 2023).
Gabrielle C. Musk is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, at the University of Western Australia. She completed her Ph.D. studies at the University of Western Australia in 2010. She has extensive experience in a range of veterinary fields including farmed animal welfare, biomedical research, teaching and clinics, and medical literature and is passionate about exploring opportunities for refinement of procedures involving the use of animals, especially farmed animals. She has published 98 papers with 974 citations and an h-index of 18 (Scopus, 12 December 2023). Her research topics mainly include sheep, analgesia, and anesthesia.
