Author Biographies

Dr. Priyanka Ravi is a Graduate Research Associate at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, University of Arizona. She is a Public Health Dentist trained at Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, India. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Health Behavior Health Promotion at the University of Arizona and has been awarded the AFMR Henry Christian award. She has been working in tobacco control and cancer prevention research since 2013. She has recently led projects on occupational health experiences and exposure among tobacco farmers and workers in Mysore, India. She has published more than 25 papers in various journals and serves as a peer-reviewer in indexed journals and scientific conference abstracts. Her teaching disciplines include public health dentistry, health education, and health promotion, and her research interests include cancer prevention, tobacco control, global health, exposure science, and environmental and occupational health.

Maiya G Block Ngaybe earned a Master of Public Health, from the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health and a BA in Biology (2014) and is a current PhD student in Health Behavior Health Promotion (projected graduation May 2025). She is now a National Institutes of Health Fogarty Global Health Equity Scholar studying for her dissertation in Kampala, Uganda, studying HIV prevention preferences. Her work in health promotion and health behavior public health research has resulted in four publications, over ten presentations, and an adjunct lecturer position for one undergraduate-level health promotion science course. She has been a member of multiple groups including the Peace Corps Coverdell Fellows program, the University of Arizona Global Health Alliance, the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health Graduate Ambassadors, and more. Her research interests include health promotion, health behavior HIV prevention, behavioral economics, resilience, implementation science, and community-based participatory research.
