Stefan J. Rupitsch received a Diploma and a Ph.D. in
mechatronics from Johannes Kepler University Linz (Linz, Austria) in 2004 and
2008, respectively, and the Habilitation degree from the University of
Erlangen–Nürnberg, Erlangen, Germany in 2018. From 2008 to 2020, he was with
the Chair of Sensor Technology at the University of Erlangen–Nürnberg, where he
held a Deputy Professorship. Since December 2020, he has been a Full Professor
of Electrical Instrumentation and Embedded Systems at the University of
Freiburg (Freiburg, Germany). His research interests include piezoelectric
transducers, energy harvesting, embedded systems, ultrasonic imaging and
therapy, simulation-based material characterization, and noncontact
measurements. He is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Sensors Journal and the
TM-Technisches Messen journal. He serves as a Guest Associate Editor for the
Journal of Sensors and Sensor Systems. He is a member of IEEE.
