Prof. Keiji Wakabayashi completed his PhD studies at the Shizuoka College of Pharmacy in 1977. He is a professor at the University of Shizuoka, Japan. He was the Chief of the Biochemistry Division, National Cancer Center Research Institute (1994–1997), the Chief of the Cancer Prevention Division, National Cancer Center Research Institute (1997–2002), the Deputy Director of the National Cancer Center Research Institute (2002–2007), and the Director of the National Cancer Center Research Institute (2007–2010). He was awarded the Prince Hitachi Prize for Comparative Oncology in 2010 and the Japanese Environmental Mutagen Society Award in 2008. His research interests include food-derived mutagens and carcinogens and their modification of DNA and chemoprevention via dietary factors and medicines.
