Orlin Belyaev is a Professor of Surgery at the Ruhr University Bochum and Vice Chair of the Surgical Department at St. Josef University Hospital in Bochum, Germany. He is head of the HPB and Robotic Surgery sections. His research is focused on pancreaticobiliary and oncologic surgery, the prevention of surgical complications, hernia repair, quality of life and robotic surgery and has resulted in five book chapters, >200 presentations and lectures, and >130 scientific publications with a cumulative impact factor >400. He graduated from the Medical University Sofia, Bulgaria, in 2001 and was board certified in General Surgery in 2007. He later received his German board certificates in visceral surgery, special visceral surgery and proctology. He completed his PhD studies at the Ruhr University Bochum in 2014. Orlin Belyaev is a member of the German Surgical Society, German Society of General and Visceral Surgery, the Surgical Society of Niederrhein-Westfalia, the German Surgical HPB Community and the Professional Association of German Surgeons.
