Prof. Dr. Leonie Asfora Sarubbo is a professor at the Icam Tech School of the Catholic University of Pernambuco (Recife, Brazil). She obtained her Ph.D. degree at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas in 2000. And then she has been working as a professor at the Catholic University of Pernambuco since 2001. She has experience in the production of microbial and plant biosurfactants and other types of green surfactants for industrial applications in the petroleum, chemical, food, and cosmetic industries. She has 20 years of experience in academic research and has collaborative partnerships throughout Brazil, at international academic and research institutions, in Europe, and with many Brazilian industrial establishments. Prof. Dr. Leonie Asfora Sarubbo has been engaged in R&D activities in the fields of energy, environment, and water resources. She also acts as an ad hoc member of six national and international development agencies and has received four national awards for developing sustainable research, all in the field of biosurfactants applied to environmental recovery. Prof. Dr. Leonie Asfora Sarubbo has about 250 publications in international journals and books, as well as 20 patents, and is a founding member of the Advanced Institute of Technology and Innovation (IATI) (Recife, Brazil), acting as scientific director of R&D projects developed in partnership with industries.
