James V. Cizdziel is Professor, Interim Chair, and Coordinator of Forensic Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Mississippi. He received his B.S. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Nevada Reno. He was a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at US EPA, National Exposure Research Laboratory and subsequently joined the Harry Reid Center for Environmental Studies at the University of Nevada Las Vegas as a Senior Chemist and later as Associate Research Professor. In 2008, he joined the University of Mississippi. His main research interests include analytical, environmental, and forensic chemistry, with emphasis on the biogeochemical cycling of mercury, environmental radioactivity, environmental monitoring and fingerprinting, and analytical method development.
