Author Biographies

Dafne D. G. Horovitz MD, PhD, is a medical geneticist at the National Institute of Women, Children and Adolescent Health Fernandes Figueira / Fiocruz in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Has masters degree in Medicine by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and Doctorate in Public Health by the State University of Rio de Janeiro. Her work involves general medical genetics, genetic counselling, new treatments for genetic diseases, and public health policies in genetics. Dr Horovitz is a consulting member of the Brazilian Ministry of Health for the special policy on rare diseases. She has published and collaborated in research on medical genetics, lysosomal storage disorders, and public health.
Têmis Maria Félix, MD, PhD is  medical geneticist at Medical Genetics Service of Hospital de Clinicas de Porto Alegre, Brazil. Has masters degree in genetics from Universidade de São Paulo and doctorate in pediatrics from Faculty of Medicine at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul.  She was president of Brazilian Society of Medical Genetics and Genomics from 2018-2023.
