Prof. Dr. Gohar Azhar is a professor of geriatrics and holds
the Jackson T. Stephens endowed chair in Clinical Affairs at the Reynolds
Institute on Aging in the College of Medicine at UAMS. She is the Director of
Clinical Research, Director of the Walker Memory Clinic, and Co-Director of the
Cardiovascular Aging Program. Dr. Azhar graduated from Dow Medical College in
Karachi, Pakistan. She completed her internship and residency in internal
medicine at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, where she was
recognized for her “Excellence in Ambulatory Care” and as an “Outstanding
Resident". Subsequently, she trained as a geriatrician and
physician–scientist at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the
Division on Aging at Harvard Medical School in Boston before moving to Little
Rock and joining UAMS in 2002. At the Thomas and Lyon Longevity Clinic at UAMS,
Dr. Azhar sees older adult patients as a primary care geriatrician. In addition,
as director of the Walker Memory Clinic, she provides care for patients with
different types of memory disorders and is actively involved in clinical trials
of Alzheimer’s disease, related dementias, and other aging conditions.
Dr. Sindhu J Malapati is an assistant professor of medicine
at the Division of Medical Oncology in the Department of Internal Medicine at
the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She graduated with her medical
degree from Goa Medical College, India. She completed her internal medicine
residency at the John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Chicago, and her
hematology and oncology fellowship at Ascension St. John Hospital, Detroit.
She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American
Society of Hematology, and the European Society of Medical Oncology. Her areas
of interest are the care of women with breast cancer, supportive oncology, and
symptom control.
