Author Biographies

Nikolai Morozov earned, from the NRNU MEPhI, a specialist diploma (eq MS) in physics of metals (2016) and a PhD in Condensed Matter Physics (2022). He is now a researcher at the Department of Chemistry, Lomonosov Moscow State University. His work in the Material Science field has resulted in seven publications, several presentations, and four lectures. His research interests include x-ray diffraction analysis, structural and crystallographic texture investigation, studying changes in various properties after different thermomechanical treatments of carbon-based materials, graphite, graphite foils, silicon carbide, as well as steels for main gas pipelines, and electrical engineering.
David V. Demchenko received a bachelor's degree in geology in 2012 from Lomonosov Moscow State University. From the same university, he received a master's degree in geology in 2014 and 2016, and a master's degree in natural resource management in 2018. He currently holds the position of director of the research center for sealing materials and products.
Pavel. O. Bukovsky earned, from the MIREA - Russian Technological University, a BS in Applied Mathematics (2015) and a Master's degree in Information Technology and Computer Engineering (2017) from the same institution. The Ishlinsky Institute for Problems in Mechanics of the Russian Academy of Sciences earned a PhD in Physics and Mathematics (2023). He now works as a researcher in the Tribology Laboratory of the Ishlinsky Institute for Problems in Mechanics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). His work in experimental tribology has resulted in 15 publications and 25 presentations. His research interests include experimental research, mechanics of contact interaction, and tribology of composites.
Anastasiya A. Yakovenko is a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics and Mathematics. She has received her bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. degrees at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), Russia. Since 2015, she has been a researcher at the Tribology Laboratory of the Ishlinsky Institute for Problems in Mechanics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). Her research interest is discrete contact mechanics. In particular, she is interested in modeling the contact interaction of rough bodies with different mechanical properties. She was awarded the RAS Medal for students in the fields of mechanical engineering, mechanics, and control processes (2019).
Vladimir Alekseevich Shulyak received a bachelor's degree in industrial thermal power engineering in 2019 and a master's degree in chemistry in 2021. Since then, he has been a researcher at the Faculty of Chemistry at Moscow State University. He is currently pursuing a PhD in solid-state chemistry. He is the author of 2 papers. His research focuses on graphite-based materials and the development of functional materials.
Alexandra Gracheva received her bachelor's degree in crystallography and crystallochemistry from Moscow State University in 2016. She served as the head of the lithological analytical group at the All-Russian Research Geological Petroleum Institute from 2020 to 2023. In 2023, she became a researcher at Moscow State University. She is the author of two papers. Her research topics mainly include the study of samples by SEM, XRD, and tomography of materials based on carbon, graphite, graphite foils, and silicon carbide, as well as the study of rock cores from oil and gas fields.
Sergei N. Chebotarev is a Professor of the Department of Chemistry at Lomonosov Moscow State University. He graduated from South-Russian Polytechnical University (2004) and then received a PhD degree there (2007). He also received the D. Sci. degree (2015) while working in the Southern Scientific Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He is the author of more than 50 papers and 4 books in the field of condensed matter physics and functional materials. He has got an honorary title from the Government of the Russian Federation, «Honored Worker of the Education Sphere» (2021). He has been awarded the Government Medal for his contribution to the implementation of state policy in the field of education and scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation (2022).
Irina G. Goryacheva is a Professor and Head of the Tribology Laboratory of the Ishlinsky Institute for Problems in Mechanics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and an academician of RAS. She graduated Lomonosov Moscow State University (1970) and then received her PhD degree there (1974). He also received a D. Sci. degree (1988) while working at the Institute for Problems in Mechanics (1973-til now). She is the author of more than 200 papers and 8 books in the field of contact mechanics and tribology. She has developed analytical methods of solutions of contact problems for deformable bodies with various surface microgeometries, taking into account the effects of mutual influence of contact spots, wear, adhesion, surface films and layers, and inhomogeneity of material properties. She is the President of the Russian Tribology Council (from 2003 till now), the Chair of the Russian National Committee of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (from 2011 till now), and a member of the IUTAM Directors Board and Vice President of the World Tribology Council. She was awarded the State Prize for Young Researchers in the Field of Science and Technology (1979), the Russian Government Prize in the Field of Science and Technology (2007), and the World Tribology Gold Medal (2009).
Viktor V. Avdeev is a Professor and Head of the Department of Chemical Technology and New Materials at Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU). He graduated from MSU (1972) and received his Ph.D. (1978), Dr. Sci. (1997), Professor (2000), and Honored Professor (2022). He has published over 250 scientific papers, and he holds more than 200 patents. He is the author of 12 educational courses. He developed the technology of producing oxidized graphite and thermally expanded graphite for flexible graphite foils. He has been a member of the All-Russian public organization of specialists in the field of carbon and carbon materials, "Carbon Society" (since 2004). He has received the "Medal for Labor Distinction" (1971), the "Medal in Commemoration of the 850th Anniversary of Moscow" (1997), the "Order of Merit for the Fatherland" II degree (2011), the "V.A. Legasov Medal" (2017), and the and the Government Order of Honor for merits in scientific and pedagogical activity (2020).
