Dr. Charles Kunos is a Professor in the Department
of Radiation Oncology in the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer
Center (SCCC). He joined SCCC in 2023 and serves as the co-director of
radiopharmaceutical development initiative for adult and pediatric cancer
patients. He received his medical and doctorate degrees from Case Western
Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He undertook
radiation oncology training at the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated
Case Comprehensive Cancer Center at University Hospitals of Cleveland. He was
formerly the NCI Gynecologic Oncology Group’s liaison for Radiation Medicine,
serving on multiple committees and task forces as well as serving as a Phase I
co-chair of the Developmental Therapeutics Committee between 2012 and 2015. His
clinical research interests involve development of a diverse anticancer drug
portfolio involving experimental therapeutic agents and radiopharmaceuticals
that manipulate DNA damage responses by themselves or in combination with other
treatments. He led NCI’s team that was granted Food & Drug Administration
Orphan Drug Designation and Fast Track Designation for triapine in combination
with cisplatin-radiation therapy for treatment of women with advanced stage
uterine cervix cancer.
Rachel Miller is an assistant professor of
gynecologic oncology at the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center. Dr.
Miller received her MD from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. She
completed residency in obstetrics and gynecology and Dartmouth Hitchcock
Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, followed by fellowship in gynecologic oncology
at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Miller’s research interests include early
detection of ovarian cancer, novel strategies in the treatment of ovarian
cancer, chemotherapy-induced cognitive impairment, radical pelvic surgery, and
robotic surgery for gynecologic cancers.
Denise Fabian, MD, is an Assistant Professor and the
Associate Residency Program Director of Radiation Oncology at University of
Kentucky. She attended college at Boston University, where she studied
biochemistry and molecular biology along with international relations. Dr.
Fabian returned to Ohio, where she earned her medical degree at the Ohio State
University College of Medicine; she completed her residency training at Ohio
State, as well. Her current work focuses on gynecologic malignancies, brachytherapy,
and radiopharmaceuticals for neuro-oncology.
