Dr. Amjad Ali is a Research Fellow in smart wearable research (SWR) and is a member of the Smart Wearable Research Group at the Department of Engineering, Nottingham Trent University. He has been working in the field of smart and wearable textiles for the last two years to develop a respiratory rate sensor, funded by NIHR. He obtained his PhD from the University of Nottingham in electrical and electronics engineering. His PhD research focused on using piezoelectric materials to develop a temperature and humidity sensor with tracking capability for biomass supply chain monitoring.
Prof. Dr. Yang Wei is an associate professor in the Department of Engineering at Nottingham Trent University and the lead of the Smart Wearable Research Group which focuses on the development of innovative wearable solutions for a range of military and civilian applications. He is a chartered engineer, an active steering group committee member of the EPSRC E-Textile network, and a member of the IPC Electronic-textile Initiative committee. Dr Wei is also the academic expert on Smart Medical Textiles at the Medical Technologies Innovation Facility (MTIF). He obtained his PhD from the University of Southampton followed by working on several large EU and UK projects, including EU PF7 MICROFLEX, EU PF7 CREATIF, EU OR4FAUTO, EPSRC FETT project, and MRC SmartMove. He holds an EPSRC new investigator award on wearable medical textiles for managing lymphoedema and is a co-investigator
leading related tasks in the NIHR i4i project developing wearable respiratory sensors for both in-hospital and at-home use.
