Victor Kennedy is a professor of English Literature at the Faculty of Arts, University of Maribor, Slovenia. He received his Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Toronto, and his Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School, Toronto. He has taught at the University of Maribor since 1996, and currently teaches in the Ph.D. program there. He is the author of Strange Brew: Metaphors of Magic and Science in Rock Music (2013), and numerous articles and book chapters about music and literature. He has organized several conferences on Words and Music, proceedings of which have been published as Words and Music (2013), Symphony and Song (2016), Ethnic and Cultural Identity in Music and Song Lyrics (2017),  Words, Music and Gender (2020), and Words, Music and Propaganda Vol 1 & 2 (2024). He is a member of the International Association for Word and Music Studies, and is vice-president of the Central European Association for Canadian Studies and vice-president of the Slovensko društvo za angleške študije/Slovene Association for the Study of English.
