Prof. Wei Sun is a Professor and the Vice Dean of Business at Jilin University, School of Basic Medicine. He also serves as the head of the Cross Regional Science and Technology Innovation Center for Aquatic Experimental Animals of the Jilin Provincial Department of Science and Technology and the head of the Zebrafish Genetic Engineering Laboratory of the Jilin Provincial Development and Reform Commission. He studied for a Ph.D. degree at Jilin University in 2007. After obtaining the Ph.D. degree, he entered the Ohio State University School of Pharmacy, USA for Postdoctoral research from 2019 to 2020. He has won the second prize of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award and the first prize of the Jilin Province Science and Technology Progress Award. He serves as a member of the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, a member of the American Heart Association, and the Secretary General of the Youth Development Committee of Jilin University School of Basic Medicine. His research direction is to use zebrafish and mice as model animals, apply transgenic and gene knockout technologies, establish clinical disease models, and use molecular immunology and molecular pharmacology methods to explore pathogenesis, select therapeutic targets, and screen drugs.
