Dr. Xi Lu is a Lecturer at the School of Landscape Architecture, Nanjing Forestry University. She holds a B.E. and
M.Eng. in Landscape Architecture from Southeast University, China, and a Ph.D.
in Landscape Planning from the University of Sheffield, UK. Her global academic
exposure includes visiting positions at the Israel Institute of Technology, the
University of Duisburg-Essen, and the University of Virginia. Dr. Lu serves on
the Secretariat for the Theory and History Committee of the Chinese Society of Landscape
Architecture and is a member of the Royal Horticultural Society. Her research
focuses on landscape visualization, public participation, and environmental
perception.
Eckart Lange is Professor Emeritus of Landscape in the School of Architecture and Landscape, University of Sheffield, UK. He holds degrees from TU Berlin, Harvard University, and ETH Zürich. Prior to joining the University of Sheffield in 2004, from 1990 until 2004, he was Senior Researcher in the City and Landscape Network at ETH Zürich. From 2008 to 2016, he served on the scientific committee of the European Environment Agency. Prof. Lange’s research centers on how landscape architecture and environmental planning can influence and direct anthropogenic landscape change while developing innovative methodologies of how advanced landscape modeling including VR and AR can be used to explore human reactions to these changes. His work spans a range of scales and themes including environmental impact assessments, urban green space strategies, rural landscape development, and large-scale landscape planning and design, landscape aesthetics, planning and design communication as well as participatory decision-making. His research has led to around 200 publications. He is a member of several editorial boards, including, e.g., Landscape and Urban Planning (Elsevier), Land (MDPI) and Landscape Journal (University of Wisconsin Press). He was visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley and at Hamburg Institute for Advanced Study. He held visiting appointments e.g. at the University of Tokyo, University Putra Malaysia and is Visiting Professor at Tongji University, Shanghai.
