Prof. Jenny C.A. Read is a Professor of Vision Science at Newcastle University. Her postdoctoral research was in physiology labs with Julian Jack at the Physiology Department of Oxford University and Bruce Cumming at the National Eye Institute of the US National Institutes of Health. She returned to the UK in 2005 to take up a Royal Society University Research Fellowship at Newcastle University. Her research spans basic science and clinical/industrial applications. Her basic science work is, broadly, aimed at bridging the gap between the properties of individual cortical neurons and the perception of the whole organism.
