Sagara Jayasinghe holds an MSc in Architecture (2000) from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, and a PhD in Art History (2025) from the University of Lisbon, Portugal. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Integrated Design, Faculty of Architecture, University of Moratuwa, and a Research Collaborator at the ARTIS Institute, School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon. Through his research on intercultural religious heritage, he has produced numerous publications, delivered many conference presentations and lectures, and curated public exhibitions, and his work has garnered numerous awards and grants. A Fellow of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architecture, he also serves as Vice President of ICOMOS Sri Lanka. He holds expert memberships in the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Places of Religion and Ritual and the International
Scientific Committee on Shared Built Heritage. His research interests encompass cultural heritage, colonialism, missionary movements, and ecclesiastical architecture. His practice and research have contributed significantly to preserving colonial heritage in Sri Lanka, mainly through the documentation and systematic architectural drawings of churches and liturgical artworks.
