Dr. Marco Leo obtained an Honours Laurea Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Salento (Italy) in 2001. Since then, he has worked as a researcher at the National Research Council of Italy. He has also been a visiting researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2004), the University of Central Florida (2007), and Imperial College London (2009). His primary research interests lie in computer vision and pattern recognition. He has participated in numerous national and international research projects, focusing on assistive technologies, automatic video surveillance of indoor and outdoor environments, human attention monitoring, real-time event detection in sports contexts, and non-destructive inspection of environmental and industrial products. He has authored over 150 papers in national and international journals and conference proceedings and he has co-authored three international patents related to visual systems for event detection in sports contexts.
